Chapel:
The building contains two chapels. One seats in excess of 250 people, while our family chapel seats up to 50 people.
Parking:
On site: there is parking for 120 cars amongst landscaped gardens.
Overview:
Off the chapel is a lovely, fully-licensed catering/reception area with an accompanying outdoor space. There is also a memorial selection room with an extensive collection to choose from.

Funeral services in Hobart

You can hold the funeral service for your loved one at any location of your choosing. Typically, we help families to arrange funeral services at:

  • One of our two beautiful chapels
  • A local church (Saint Mary's Catholic Cathedral in Hobart, Archdiocese of Hobart in North Hobart, St David's Anglican Cathedral in Hobart, St James' Anglican Church in New Town)
  • Another destination of the family’s choosing, such as a park, club or private residence

The closest cemetery to Turnbull Funerals in North Hobart is Millingtons Cemetery, Mornington, which is about 10km over the river from our location. We also can help families bury loved ones in other cemeteries throughout Tasmania.

Facilities at our North Hobart funeral home

Turnbull Funerals is a stately, dignified funeral home that has all the facilities to arrange and hold a memorable funeral for your loved one.

  • There are two chapels available – one seats over 250 people and is suitable for large funerals; the other is a more intimate space for family funerals of up to 50 people.
  • Following the service, you can hold a reception at our fully-licensed function room, which has a lovely and large outdoor space.
  • With our complete audio-visual equipment we can offer you the possibility to play music, photos and videos.
  • We have a memorial selection room where you can select from an extensive collection of memorials.
  • We have two arrangement rooms where you can meet with your funeral director to arrange the funeral.

Parking is available for over 120 cars including 3 disabled car spots, amongst beautifully landscaped gardens. We are located 2 minutes’ drive from North Hobart CBD. Parking in the surrounding streets is time-limited.

Our funeral home is accessible for visitors in wheelchairs and with other mobility aids.

We will go under refurbishment from early October and our offices will be closed for about 6 or 8 weeks. During the refurbishment we can meet with families in temporary facilities; and we can arrange for funeral services to take place at a chapel or location of your choice.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy working in a team environment. My role is supporting my team and seeing them develop into caring professional Funeral Directors. It is an honour to be involved with families providing the farewell service they wish for their loved one.

How long have you been location manager?

I commenced with Turnbull Funerals in 2010 and I have had the privilege to work in this management role since 2017. Now we have Simplicity Glenorchy and White Lady Funerals and our professional team has grown. 

What do you enjoy in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy time with my family and working on restoration projects.

Are there any special community groups you work with or support?

I work closely with the Royal Hobart Hospital Grief Counsellor/Senior Social Worker providing support to families experiencing early pregnancy loss.
